The drips of dark blood from his temple started to calm, and his heart continued to race with each breath as he counted… 1, 2, 3, 4. What’s taking them so long, he moaned. A hefty and sturdy voice shortly appeared, cleared his throat, and spoke through the speaker.

When the truck finally halted there were a pair of train tracks staring at us through the front window, which began to crack like weak sheets of ice. It was all happening so fast that by the time my vision returned, I glanced over at the woman and saw the seat belt holding her lifeless body tight.

We use to pass this old trail for years but I haven’t noticed it til now. I’ve been staring at it for 20 minutes like a lost man. It certainly wasn’t the idea I had in mind. What else am I to do?

He took a seat and glanced toward an open window. It was odd to him, but the air that flowed was uncanny – a far cry from the polluted waves back home. Just a few feet from him stood a patient’s bed that had a leather interior and looked soft. I think I’ll sit there, he thought.
