A while back I did a setup to route audio into Ableton. It’s still useful but there’s a more simpler method.

With my drums already laid, I stumbled onto this one sample that I knew was something the second I heard it. From that point I just played with a few chops to match my groove, and there were only two that I felt were needed.

When I found the sample I just went where my ears took me, which I thought was dope. There were some gems in the sample, such as one that made me think of Fetty Wap oddly enough — a small chop that added a nice touch to an already fly type of beat.

This 1st session kicks off with finding the right loop to use but not as-is. The idea is to extract what we want in our drum kit instead relying on a pre-made pattern that you’re pretty much stuck with.

Learn how to bounce samples and export stems from MPC One to a DAW like Ableton for mixing and collaboration.

The idea was to use the MPC in controller mode to record inputs within Ableton but it wasn’t just about doing that.
